Sweetgum Press promotes emerging writers or those who have found mainstream markets elusive. We read year round and encourage submissions of shorter novels and collections. In addition to this ongoing call for book length works, we currently seek short non-fiction for an anthology. Please see a fuller description under Call for Manuscripts.

Sweetgum is not a vanity or subsidized press. Writers are offered a standard contract, a modest payment for right to publish, and royalties from 10-15 percent. Currently, distribution is primarily regional.

Please note: Beginning January 2009, Sweetgum Press will accept manuscripts only from writers in Missouri or adjoining states.
