Rose Marie (R.M.) Kinder is the author of two novels, The Universe Playing Strings (University of New Mexico Press 2016), An Absolute Gentleman (Counterpoint 2007),and three short-story collections: A Common Person and Other Stories winner of the Richard Sullivan Award in Short Fiction, University of Notre Dame 2021, A Near-Perfect Gift, winner of the 2005 University of Michigan Literary Fiction Award, and Sweet Angel Band, winner of the 1991 Helicon Nine Willa Cather Award. She is co-author with Kristine Lowe-Martin of Old-Time Fiddling: Hal Sappington, Missouri Fiddler. She received her B.A., M.F.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, Tucson. From 1992-2001, she edited Pleiades literary journal at the University of Central Missouri(UCM) where she also coordinated the Creative Writing Program. She is a co-owner and co-editor of Cave Hollow Press.
Kristine-Lowe Martin is a writer, photographer, and graphic artist. She is co-author with R.M. Kinder of Old-Time Fiddling: Hal Sappington, Missouri Fiddler (Johnson County Missouri Historical Press 2012). She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business from the University of Arizona. A founding editor with Sweetgum Press, she is involved in all editorial processes. Her special interests are contemporary literature, literature for young adults, film, and visual arts, including computer-generated art.
